ત્રણ મેડલ જીતનાર શૂટર નીરુ ઢાંડા બની ભારતની ધ્વજવાહકઃ ભારત 85 ચંદ્રક સાથે ચોથા સ્થાને
નાગોયાઃ 19મી સપ્ટેમ્બરે શરૂ થયેલી 20મી એશિયન ગેમ્સ (Asian Games) રવિવારે પૂરી થઈ હતી અને એના શાનદાર સમાપન સમારોહમાં ભારતની મેડલ-વિજેતા શૂટર નીરુ ઢાંડા (Neeru Dhanda) ધ્વજવાહક બની હતી. હવે 2030માં 21મી એશિયન ગેમ્સ કતારના દોહા શહેરમાં યોજાશે. ઉલ્લેખનીય છે કે 2022નો ફિફા ફૂટબૉલ વર્લ્ડ કપ દોહામાં સફળતાપૂર્વક યોજાયો હતો. 2036ની ઑલિમ્પિક ગેમ્સ યોજવા માટે ભારત અને તૂર્કી ઉપરાંત કતારે પણ દાવો કર્યો છે.
ઑલિમ્પિક કાઉન્સિલ ઑફ એશિયાના પ્રમુખ શેખ જોઆન બિન હમાદ અલ થાનીએ જાપાનની એશિયન ગેમ્સ સંપન્ન થઈ હોવાની સત્તાવાર જાહેરાત કરી હતી. ગર્વભેર ભારતના તિરંગા સાથે પરેડમાં ભાગ લેનાર નીરુ ઢાંડા નિશાનબાજીમાં બે ગોલ્ડ મેડલ અને એક સિલ્વર મેડલ જીતી હતી.

ભારત 2022ની એશિયન ગેમ્સની જેમ આ વખતે પણ ચોથા સ્થાને રહ્યું. ભારતે 21 ગોલ્ડ, 27 સિલ્વર અને 37 બ્રૉન્ઝ સહિત કુલ 85 ચંદ્રક જીત્યા હતા. ચીન (169 ગોલ્ડ સહિત કુલ 341 ચંદ્રક) પ્રથમ સ્થાને, જાપાન (83 ગોલ્ડ સહિત કુલ 269 ચંદ્રક) બીજા સ્થાને અને સાઉથ કોરિયા (39 ગોલ્ડ સહિત કુલ 150 ચંદ્રક) ત્રીજા સ્થાને હતું.
